Description
Waiting To Fly is about awaiting the next chapter of my life. A figure sits at the edge of a cliff, with her wings crumpled, drying after metamorphosis. She sees two figures in the distance flying, already enjoying their moment as she awaits to finally be up ‘there’. It is a piece that comments on several things in my current life. I’ve had a yearning to enter a new chapter of my life in 2023. For it to be one of success, love and happiness. To have new things and new people come into my life, things that bring joy and not pain, good things that stay. Mentally, I feel like I’ve moved on, but I’m awaiting my physical existence to emulate that. The characters are lit by the dying sun of the afternoon, indicating the desire for the current chapter I am in, and the pain that came with it to end. To remind myself that even with the sun setting, there will always be sunrise. And surprisingly enough, if one flips this artwork horizontally, the character awaiting for the end of the phase at dusk, becomes one awaiting a new beginning at dawn.
