Description
The black hole had been a part of our lives for as long as I can remember. Way before the discovery, we were being sucked into its unknown oblivion at astonishing speed. Sometimes, I think ignorance is bliss.
As the years went by and the reality of our demise became obvious and unavoidable, society (and reality) slowly crumbled. Planets that were red-flagged became deserted. Their inhabitants took to shuttles in a desperate and pointless bid to outrun the pull of the gaping, hungry vortex.
We had thought like that. Stuffing all the provisions we could into our tin can and breaking through the atmosphere of our doomed home planet. Our escape route was planned, a detailed hop through the dense star field in the galaxy's outer arm and on to safety.
Nothing but a crazy dream. Our future lies beyond the hole as pointless particles of space dust. Cheers to that.
