'Mucky Muck' was originally a painting from Ernest Concepcion's SOURCE CODE series. It is now a video in collaboration with art director and graphic designer, AJ Dimarucot, who added a dynamic and immersive element to the artwork.
The created augmented reality layer is a result of the combination of Concepcion’s painting and Dimarucot’s original digital work, which included typography and portraiture, that he ‘fed’ to artificial intelligence software–challenging Dimarucot’s sense of control, which is usually key and a matter of course for an artist and their creation. ‘The result became a mucked-up, morphed version of Ernest’s art and my graphic design,’ says Dimarucot. From the resulting images, Dimarucot selected ten images to morph and undulate, retrieving control once again over the final artwork.
