July: when the heat liberates children from school, and all of us from all but our least heavy clothes. Summer has officially arrived. The sun still hoards its time in the sky which is often a cloudless, special shade of blue. And on a particular evening, with all eyes on the heavens, we celebrate several kinds of freedom with spectacles of sparkling flames dancing across the sky, an extreme beautification of the fusillade they symbolize.

This piece by Maneki Neko is part of a series of an open edition for each month of 2023. It was created through experimentation with the AI tool Stable Diffusion in multiple iterations of combinations of prompts and settings to produce hundreds of floral synthographs. The best of these images were curated and upscaled with Stable Diffusion to bring out even more details and finished with color and fine detail editing in Photoshop.
