Description
Awarded in the Px Paris Photo Prize, judged by renowned photographer Steve McCurry, and the IPA International Photography Awards, this photo has been exhibited in various countries and published on official accounts of National Geographic YS and National Geographic Turkey.
The image captures a split-second scene from my visit to the village of Hörmetçi in Kayseri, Turkey, where I attempted to photograph the wild Yılkı horses. On that day, the farm owner, Uncle Ali, did not bring the horses to the usual open field for photographers. Although initially disappointed, I stayed alert, observing my surroundings for any unique moments to capture. When a farmhand struggled to catch a chosen horse from the herd amidst thick dust, I seized the chance and clicked the shutter just as the dust cleared for a magical instant.
This experience reminded me that even disappointing moments can hold extraordinary opportunities, if we’re open to embracing them.
