Name
Spaceships - Fringe Drifters
Description
In contrast to the high-output (and largely BC-based) craft manufacturers that dominate the space, Goddard Lightcraft is a small, bespoke operation - designed and crafted by drifters, for drifters.
Founder Tim Goddard started as a deepsatch mining engineer who always harbored an affinity for craft design. Rejected from the prestigious Talco Design Academy, Goddard fell into the gritty Fringeling mining industry to pave his way forward. It was there he learned first-hand the rigors of frontier life and developed an intimate sense of the unique demands drifters face.
Initially Goddard Lightcraft dealt solely in one-of-a-kind custom builds, but from the first iteration of the Nomad Hopper platform, the potential for a production model was potent. It was an instantaneous hit with drifters of all walks - namely, solo operators - for all the little accommodations the BC giants overlooked.
An encased engine model means regular maintenance can be conducted without the need for EVA. Ample lamps and racks for more are optimized for orbital mining and ship salvage operations. Flexible rack space accommodates payload and supplies that don't pack easily into standard carriages. And a cozy hab design takes the edge off the longhaul.
For those who appreciate the subtleties of artisan-level fab quality and seek a modest-range platform that can be outfitted for any niche, there's no better option than the Nomad Hopper. But be warned, Goddard takes it's time with it's work. The output remains small and the waitlist is long.
