Description
I have no words to describe what has happened today. I am crying non stop. I have to express myself through this image. If not I won't be able to sleep.
My best friend I grew up Riding Pipeline with was eaten by a Tiger shark today 6/23/2024. He was the person who has taught me everything there is to know about respect and dignity in the lineup. We have had tremendous years of stories, waves, family parties, and most importantly travels.
To type this brings me tears. Tao think he is gone isn't even real. Tamayo Perry was the greatest Human In and out the ocean. he lived with Aloha and did not one person wrong. His wife is in shambles at this moment but only time can heal.
I decided to Mint this image because this is the Banzai Pipeline where he and I made our career riding waves that could kill us.
To imagine he got eaten by a shark at a spot called goats. Goat island is a very average wave on the NE corner. This area is known for sharks and I have never seen any Tiger shark attack a human multiple times. Tamayo Suffered several bites and was ultimately taken.
This is impossible to mint but I cannot let his legacy go unannounced as I type how much he meant to me. Pipeline was our proving grounds and we held a very high standard to those of the younger generation.
Minting this image helps me heal the happy times we shared. Such as this beautiful day with rainbow spray off the sun glistening wave.
Forever hurt by this day but it helps to see this image as if his legacy will live on forever. Love you Brother Tamayo Perry
Any proceeds will go to help his wife who is now in deep pain. One of which I cannot understand. But I will try my best to be there for his Family!
