Description
Two frames, one soul, a thousand stories. ~ Turkish Proverb
The Turkish saying "Two frames, one soul, a thousand stories" perfectly captures the duality in my artwork. The two frames represent different perspectives through which we see ourselves and are seen by others—perhaps even different perspectives from different times. "One soul" highlights our core identity, which remains unchanged, even as we grow and experience "a thousand stories." This image speaks to the complexity of the human experience and how one individual can embody countless layers and narratives. The proverb beautifully mirrors the woman in my piece, whose shifting frames reflect the multiple dimensions of her being—constantly evolving yet rooted in her true essence.
I became intrigued by the idea of using picture frames as a metaphor for identity & perception after seeing brilliant photography by artist _growth revolution, which incorporated a wooden frame in her conceptual work. Much thanks for the inspiration!
