Who is Claire Silver? In preparing for this piece, and from what I've gleaned during my brief time in this space, it's evident that she means a lot of things to many people. Claire is an AI Virtuoso, the Queen of AI, our AI Mother, an enigmatic and yet approachable AI artist and advocate. For this artwork, I felt it would be fitting to let AI tell me its thoughts about Claire's work, and to have a hand in creating something for the creator, as it were. AI served as my guide throughout the creation of this gift for you, Claire.
Process:
The first frame of the video, which is also the only repeating frame, serves as the foundation for all other images. It acts as the “mother” to the rest. The prompt for this image was formulated through a conversation with ChatGPT. I asked the AI to analyze a piece of Claire’s art, specifically Silver’s work titled "c l a i r e" (owned by
@batsoupyum).
I selected this piece due to its significance in the realm of AI art and Claire’s own portfolio. Additionally, I was drawn to the ideas and messages expressed in a Twitter thread accompanying the artwork on May 23, 2022. The quote that stood out to me was, “The piece represents me.”
Following this, I provided the AI with a structured set of prompt instructions based on a previous prompt we had collaboratively developed. I wanted my original prompt to be influenced by the AI's "interpretation" of the artwork it analyzed. Here's how our conversation went:
Me: How does that image above make you feel? What does it evoke for you?
AI: I don't have feelings or emotions in the way humans do, but I can analyze and describe the content of the image.
Me: I want you to pretend for a moment that you were able to express a feeling about it, or rather, take your analysis and turn it into what could be considered emotions and feelings.
AI: Certainly! If I were to "feel" based on my analysis:.....
Me: Very well done, now combine those "feelings" with your description of the image to help me create a prompt. I want it to be the prompt to create an image filtered through you and what you "feel".
AI: Of course! Here's a prompt that combines the description and "feelings" associated with the image…..
With that prompt in hand, the initial image—the “mother” image you see in the video—was produced. After finalizing this image and its accompanying prompt, I revisited an idea I had been developing with the AI over recent days. I prompted it to design descriptions for every hue on the color wheel, totaling 12.
Following the previously established process and using the new image and “Claire” prompt co-created by myself and the AI, the AI then crafted 12 distinct prompts—one for each color. These prompts were then used to create the images showcased in the video.The video consists of 100 individual images, every image's color and theme are intricately woven together.
Images generated in Midjourney, compiled into video using Adobe Premiere Pro then paired with an audio track that I crafted using
SOUNDRAW (soundraw.io)
The audio track is an AI-generated composition. I was aiming for something that struck a balance between rebellious rock and sophisticated, synthetic sounds.
