For a time the shocked Earth stood still, settling silently as the extreme levels of energy and radiation were slowly dissipated from the planet's burnt surface.
The fractured remnants of Human communities, those wise enough to have sought the safety of underground shelters, re-emerged to face the exotic and strange reality of the new age of the Mycocene, holding fiercely onto the little precious data and records that they were able to preserve of the old world.
Teams of brave and adventurous individuals - scientists, soldiers and engineers - slowly extended their feelers out into the radically different world with both a sense of curiosity and awe. It however quickly became apparent that these remaining pockets of humanity no longer sat proudly at the top of the food chain.
