Description
In nature, a group of predators will surround the prey. Sometimes, unseen in the darkness.
The Toraudite of Fuels had all but forgotten how unforgiving the world of business could be. The meeting had started off all too well, while ink ran across the surfaces of contracts and the future of profits glistened in the setting light of the evening.
As the meeting adjourned, and his comfort began to nestle him in for a rest filled sleep, feeling confident in all he accomplished- the pile of photos landing on the table before him echoed like the howl of an alpha male wolf at the moon.
At that moment he realized they had him surrounded. In his comfort he had grown complacent, now surely destined to fall prey to whatever plan they had formulated. A pack of drooling hungry animals now pacing about him. Waiting for him to fight, or flee.
The pressure of the first bite only grew in intensity as The Toraudite of Arms began to explain. An explanation riddled with guilt and manipulation. Breaking the skin and penetrating ever deeper into the skin of his morals, the stare of all in the room drew blood without him needing to look up from the photos he stared at.
He wanted to fight, he wanted to flee. All hope of doing so began to fade, as he knew this pack of predators, unsatisfied with his compliance, would follow him. And he would lead them straight to his home, where all he loved would be at the mercy of their thirst and greed.
He had no choice but to comply, and to be consumed by their influence. A sacrifice of self, to save all else.
The Toraudite of Arms grew louder in his intensity, explaining how it would all fall apart if he wasn't on board.
His uneasy silence ended, as he shouted. "OK. I'M IN."
Taken back by the sudden outburst, the Toraudites leaned back in their chairs to silently watch him gather his things and rush out the door.
The Toraudite of Cybernetics began to giggle, as the other men erupted in laughter. All but the Toraudite of Water who stared blankly at the scaled model of Gineeren City before him.
