「永遠の愛」「誠実」は、キキョウが恋人のために一生涯、ただ待ち続けた若い娘であったという物語に由来。古名では「朝顔」と呼ばれ、『万葉集』で秋の七草として詠われた「朝貌の花」もキキョウであると考えられている。
普段から誠実で清楚な少女。従順な彼女は永遠の愛を誓った男性がおり、その人と一生を遂げることを約束している一途な女性でもある。
