Description
Tequila Progress 2087 is a science-fiction piece that seamlessly blends Mexican culture with the modern technological world. The city of Guadalajara is a hub of Tequila culture, which extends way beyond the beverage itself. It's a way of life that involves Agave production, and barrel-making and provides livelihoods to thousands of people.
This phenomenon inspired me to create an AI-assisted pixel art painting that portrays a future where tensions still exist between labour, technological progress, surveillance, and traditional methods of production. The work also pays tribute to some of my favourite movies and graphic novels, such as V for Vendetta and Blade Runner, while incorporating Mexican culture into the mix.
Tequila Progress is the first piece of my ongoing series "Mirrors: Dual Realities", a collection that always includes the Digital Collectible and the Physical Framed Print into the mix.
