Description
The twelfth and final photo in a series of editions minted in 2023. I made this photograph yesterday during a morning walk while Vancouver was covered in unusually thick fog. I've made many photos of this beachfront and these benches, but there's always something else going on. People. Crows. Ships in the background. On this particular morning things felt ominously and the fog blocked out everything making it feel like the edge of the world, and almost immediate drop off into the unknown. As 2023 comes to a close, tumultuous year that it was, there's a similar ominous feeling about what 2024 might bring. The balance is unsteady and could tip any direction at a moments notice, and it feels to me like a pressure cooker that has been slowly building all year. I don't know what happens next, where all of this takes us. But we are here today, looking out over the unknown together and now we wait to see what rolls in with the mist....
