Over the last two years, a latent art movement began to flourish online dedicated to algorithmically-generated artwork on the blockchain. Commonly referred to asB on-chain generative artB-, the movement has given birth to a thriving ecosystem that is transforming the way both artists and collectors engage with visual aestheticsb and each otherb online.
As conventions evolve, questions and criticisms emerge: Can a computer program really be considered a work of art? And, if so, how does our relationship with digitally native artwork change when experienced in a physical space?
The DigitalB explores these questions by presenting a series of art prints, digital frames, and projections of algorithmic art. Rather than reflect traditional mediums, the work is constructed from intangible inputs in lieu of tangible matter. Every piece is made up of lines of code and lives on the Ethereum blockchain.
By bringing NFTs into our physical world,B the exhibition contextualizes on-chain generative art as a formative movement within contemporary culture.
